- נַעַרm. (b. h.; preced., cmp. נְעוֹרֶת, a. meanings of דַּק, דַּרְדְּקָא, זְעֵר ) tender, young; lad. Tanḥ. Ḥayé 1 שיתכבד הזקן בַּנַּ׳ that the old may be honored by the young. Ex. R. s. 1 ילד היה ומנהגו כנ׳ he was a child, but his behavior was like that of a lad; a. fr.Pl. נְעָרִים. Yoma 75b לנ׳ לחםוכ׳ the manna was bread to the young, oil to the old Tanḥ. Shmini 11 אם נ׳ הםוכ׳ if they (the elders) are young , v. קָפַץ. Ib. הבחורים והנ׳ the young men and the lads.
